As some of you may know there is a large 'million dollar' rummage sale put on each year by our local Lion's club. They collect donations all year for it, and hold it at the school. The Lion's club sale is marked on our calendar well in advance, and Nate has the tradition of standing in line for at least 1-2 hours before it begins. Along with this, he does drive-bys the week before as they are putting out all the treasures. This year was no exception, Nate rolled out of bed at 6:15 the morning of the sale, and headed out the door without even coffee. Now don't get me wrong, I encourage this rash sale fever. We've found some definite treasures over the years: rototiller, underground fencing, gas powered air compressor. The gem Nate had his eye on this year was a 1/2 pallet of fake rock, to complete the wall in the kitchen.
If you are unfamiliar let me explain...there are boats, furniture, dishes, games, books, everything at this sale. There was even a truck, hot tub, and water trampoline on silent bid this year.
Needless to say, my husband ran when they opened the sale line this year, and got his pallet of rock. Stephanie and I arrived a few minutes later and looked for our own treasures. Which leads to the picture above. As I was lugging around Isaiah, a large basket, a bob the builder game, three life jackets, and some other odds and ends I spied this pair of lacrosse boots tucked under a table. $2.oo. Perfect. With all the rain this year the mud has been legendary. So I grabbed the boots along with my other purchases and made my way to the check-out table. For ten dollars I had my goodies, Nate met me there and hauled them out to the truck for me.
Flash forward about six hours to when I'm unloading the truck. I smile at my purchases, and then begin to frown. My perfect pair of mud boots isn't a true pair. There are two left boots. I share my dismay with Nate. He laughs, "Well I always say that you are so clumsy you have two left feet!" So if anyone wants to do a boot swap, say a right for a left, email me!
