Family Fishing

So, for a mid-week break we went fishing tonight. It wasn't an out in the boat, full out trek, but it was fun. Nate's been working out on an island all week, so he had noticed that the sunfish were biting on the bridge where Sunset creek enters the lake. We decided to meet mom, dad, and grandpa Bud for dinner, and do some fishing in front of the Landing. It was so much fun! Kohen caught the most fish on his ScoobyDoo fishing rod, and the biggest!
Five keeper sunnies aren't much, but they are a lot of fun when you are three.

Dad and mom even helped fish. Now as I recall. my mom never spent a lot of time fishing. She doesn't like to eat fish...she doesn't like to TOUCH fish. What transpired tonight was amusing to me as a mom, and heartbreakingly funny to a nanny. Nanny was casting for Kohen, and managed to cast straight into the weeds and cattails. It was very stuck, and Koe lost his bobber and hook. I was lucky enough to catch his reaction on the camera.
Nanny almost fell in the creek she was trying so hard to not laugh.
The best part was she later cast Nate's line into the same spot!
So, if you wander by the Landing on the northwest end of Lake Vermilion and see two bobbers in the weeds toward the right, yup, they were formally ours.
Even Isaiah enjoyed the live entertainment.
We were early enough to head to Moosebirds, where Nanny redeemed herself by buying Kohen some new bobbers. The sherbert cone didn't hurt either!

I think it took Nate longer to clean the five fish once we got home, then it did to catch them. Kohen was a big guy and watched dad fillet and clean the fish.

Nate and Dad compare the last two fish caught, and no, we didn't keep them.
It was a welcome, relaxing break for me. Two more days... and then summer can officially start in the Briggs household. !
