Then Kohen just had to play in the mud and find an earthworm. I never knew such a simple organism could entertain a boy for hours! Nate and I spied on him today while he was playing with his worms on the deck. It was quite entertaining. The worms magically multiplied, and shrunk at the same time. Hmmm....
We let some of the ewes and lambs out today to eat the lawn. They are our "grass" powered mowers. We've just set up two pens made from four cattle panels each. Pamela had to give us some grief by not just going straight in the pen with everyone else, but it worked out. The sheep love to eat dandelions, particularily if they are on the opposite side of the fence. Explain that one!
In this picture of Ellie, one of our Icelandic ewes, Nate and I had just moved the pen to a fresh spot five minutes before. There was an ample supply of dandelions and grass within easy reach INSIDE the fence, but Ellie had to try and fit her horns through the fence. She better be careful, this was one of the reasons Jack the goat had to go. He was forever getting stuck in the fence.
Ella is growing. This is the ewe lamb that Woody attacked that we didn't think would make it. Her fleece is growing back on the right hand side of her face. She'll probably always be a small sheep because of the set back, but would make an excellent fiber pet. She has very nice, crimpy wool. As you can see, she loves dandelions!
