For love of my farm and friends

So, I am home today with a sick babe. Isaiah hasn't been acting himself all week, and this morning he woke up very fussy. I made the decision that I need to quit worrying about everyone else's kids and take care of my own. Plus, I could use some mental health time.
Last night I had a Body Shop at home party. It was great fun! I wish some of my web friends were closer so that you could have joined in, and made it even better. I am a person who is slow to warm up and form friendships, and sometimes struggle with going the extra mile. Well, when I do form that bond it is one I treasure, and keeps me going. I was reviewing my blog and read some of the comments I received on Shep's first post, and I feel all warm and smiley inside. It's a good feeling! I know how much I enjoy reading others' blogs, and hope that others can enjoy my ramblings as well. Blogger is good for my mental health! (I can justify my satelite internet expense that way right?)
The daily grind of teaching special ed. wears a person quickly. Many of those in attendance at my girls night out are sped teachers. We tried not to talk shop too much, but how many people can relate when you discuss the happenings of the day. Such as: a seven year old peeing in your classroom trashcan, pushing a student over a change in the floor pattern so the day can continue, being overjoyed at a student putting three signs together to communicate what they want (more, apple, please)? It is a job that takes a strong person to continue the day to day routines and struggles. Sometimes I question my strength. Then I spend some time like I did this morning enjoying a beautiful Minnesota fall day, and conversing with my sheepies, and I never want to leave my little farm.
The balance of life is a tough one. Money, faith, happiness, family, friends, they all contribute and extract a price. I have to work every minute to keep the balance, and not tip too far in either direction. It's a challenge, for which I am greatful.
